Problem: Protective coatings applied to optical fiber are cured using UV light energy. The coatings may be easily over-cured which causes the fibers to break easily while under-cured coatings can cause a spool of fiber to bond together. Either outcome results in the loss of the spool, which can contain over six miles of fiber.
